It’s as Easy as a Hop, Step and a Jump for Himesh

Sep 5, 2019 | St Anne's News

Gippsland Grammar Year 5 student Himesh Rajapakse jumped his way into the School Sport Victoria record books at the Sale and District Athletics Carnival on August 27.

The Year 5 St Anne’s student jumped a whopping 8.14m in the triple jump, which is a whipping 19cm further than anyone else in his age group has ever jumped before. The previous record for the 11 years age group was 7.95m.

With a spring in his step, Himesh also secured the School Sport Victoria age champion title. A proud Himesh said had been training hard to ensure he performed well.

He will now compete at District level, striving to make the State finals – a repeat of last year. Everyone in the Gippsland Grammar community wishes Himesh all the best as he continues to … jump … towards his goal.
