Our student reports go home today, which will provide parents and carers with a snapshot of their child’s academic, social and emotional learning throughout Semester One. Our teachers are our best resource in the school and have the greatest impact on our students’ learning. I would like to thank them for their honesty and time during our report writing process. If you have any concerns about your child’s report, please speak to your classroom teacher. We will be having our parent/teacher interviews during Term 3. More information on when and how to book your appointment will come early in Term 3.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR YEAR 5
Our Campus Captains Indiana Hicks and Regan Leeson organised and ran our annual Year 5 Leadership Session this week. The aim of the session is to help build the leadership skills of our Year 5 students as they prepare to take on specific leadership roles next year. Indiana and Regan’s session focussed on the importance of trust and teamwork when leading a team. With assistance from teachers and Year 6 leaders, both girls organised initiative games help our Year 5 students understand what trust and teamwork looks like.
RUBBISH-FREE AT ST ANNE’S
This week all students and teachers were challenged to be totally rubbish-free for the week. Teachers kept a tally for each day and we have noticed a huge increase in our students’ leading the way in regards to being rubbish-free. Students openly talk about helping their parents understand the importance and strategies on how to be more rubbish-free. I would rather have ALL of our students aiming to be rubbish-free and sustainable imperfectly rather than most of our students doing it perfectly! Thank you to all student and parents who are striving to make our campus rubbish-free. The winning classrooms this week are:
1st: (Bass 98 per cent)
2nd: (Flynn 93 per cent)
3rd: Chisholm (92 per cent)
WELLINGTON DIVISION WINTER SPORT
On Wednesday our mixed netball team competed in the Wellington Division Winter Sports competition. After another successful day, the team is progressing to the Gippsland Region competition later on in the year. Thank you to Mrs Nicky Roberts (our official ‘Super Coach’) for coaching the team. Good luck for the next round!
Today we say goodbye to some important people from our school community. Lara (Year 2) and William Sandow (Foundation), along with their family, are relocating to Japan. I am sure they are going to thrive and have fun immersing themselves in the Japanese culture.
Mrs Anna English – who has stepped in to teach Art during Mrs Tracey Grubb’s unplanned absence – is finishing today. Mrs Tomomi Wynne has been teaching Japanese over the past few weeks while Mrs Jan Chalmer is on her well-deserved long service leave. Miss Serrin Smyth, who has been a regular casual relief teacher over the past six months, is also moving to Japan for work. Finally, Miss Serena Lothian, who has been working within our Pathways team, is also finishing today. A big thank you and goodbye to all the above people.
End of Term Two: 3:15pm today
Beginning of Term 3: Tuesday July 16
Prefect Fellowship: Friday July 19
St Anne’s Day Fellowship: Friday July 26
I hope all of our families enjoy the three-week holiday.
