Garnsey Campus newsletter: July 24, 2020
I have noticed this week, the many and varied ways our students are making the most of their lunchtimes even without many organised activities. As a long time, mahjong fan, it has been great to see some of our senior students enthralled in Japanese mahjong games during their lunchtimes in the quadrangle. All the playing fields at the front of the School have been busy too, with games of soccer, football, kick-to-kick and more passive pursuits with groups sitting and chatting on these chilly, but fine, winter days.
There was considerable excitement at our Campus this week with the filming of a virtual School tour. As we continue interviews with new students for 2021, there has been limited opportunity for these future students to tour our Campus. We hope our virtual School tour will provide an introduction to the Campus and the many opportunities which come with an education at Gippsland Grammar.
Students will notice a few changes next week when we include some Sport on Thursday afternoon. Next week, Years 10-12 will have the opportunity to commence some inter-House matches to be held on the campus while Years 7-9 will enjoy an activities program next week and inter-House Sport the following week. These alternate week arrangements for Sport will continue throughout this term as long as government restrictions permit it.
LATE BUS ARRANGEMENTS
The late buses to Traralgon and Bairnsdale will once again operate on Monday afternoons only from Monday July 27. This will provide an opportunity for students involved in rehearsals for the Monday Music ensembles to once again engage in making music. Measures will be put in place as required to meet our health obligations in this activity.
Some students at our Campus are wearing masks and while at this stage we have not mandated the wearing of masks, students are welcome to do so if they wish.
We have asked students not to attend the Dobsons Uniform Shop, at this time, as we have no control over who is present in the store. With no visitors, including parents coming onto School grounds, this is another safety measure for students. Parents are welcome to attend the store or to use the Click and Collect online store. If there are any issues where sizing is required, parents are asked to phone Garnsey reception and speak with Ms Jodie Smolenaars who will be able to assist with this.
With some new perspex screens and a modified menu, we are now able to offer online lunch orders only from Quad Caf. This will require parents completing an online order through VOS by 9am in the morning. Students will then be able to collect their order at lunchtime. Please note that there will be no over the counter sales until further notice. Parents will need to log onto VOS, select Parent Services from the left hand menu and then choose the Quad Caf option. Detailed instructions can be found on the parent portal to assist with ordering.
