Merry Christmas from Bairnsdale

Dec 13, 2019 | Bairnsdale News

Our final week has been one of celebration and farewelling of both students and teachers.

We announced that Cranswick Dargo was the winning house for 2019, in what was a very close finish. We also announced our Campus Captains for 2020: Josh Newstead and Sorrel Fraser. We will further recognise their achievement in 2020.

Our Valedictory Fellowship was presented magnificently with students honouring each other in their speeches and demonstrating what great confidence Mr Cook had instilled in all. A further evening event allowed all parents to come together and celebrate their child’s graduation.

An enjoyable staff function included farewelling Sandie Alexander on her retirement and Ciara Fitzsimon on her completion of her Gap year. Mr David Baker commended our staff for their commitment to our students and for the wonderful year we have had.

The Christmas Service at St. John’s was a beautiful way to end the year with the highlight being baby Jesus who was played by Mrs Libby Crowe’s grandchild; a special moment for her. Our tradition of a whole campus Christmas lunch was fabulous thanks to Mrs Anne Smith and her merry helpers. We took the opportunity to farewell Ms Terese Hunter who has contributed enormously to our campus with her continued support of our students. We wish her happiness in her long service leave and much success in her future endeavours.

We are sending our students home for the Christmas break after a fabulous year together. I thank you for being the loyal and loving families that you are, who make our community a very special one to be part of. On behalf of the staff I wish you all a very joyful Christmas and a safe and special holiday with family and friends.

With sincere thanks,
Virginia Evans
Head of Bairnsdale Campus
