Bairnsdale Campus newsletter: July 24, 2020
While Melbourne schools have been required to engage in remote learning for Term 3, here at the Bairnsdale Campus we are grateful for the opportunity to be together at School. And our students have a heightened appreciation for their friendships following their experience of Learn@Home. Through these difficult times of COVID-19, we must ensure that we stay connected to our Community and each other by supporting those who are perhaps feeling further isolated due to their personal circumstances.
Our teachers Mrs Charlotte Cheadle and Mrs Fiona Sutherland remain connected to us as we have reimagined their role in supporting students individually online. Charlotte is working with our senior students assessing their reading and Fiona is working alongside our teachers supporting the various needs of our students. This arrangement allows further opportunities to engage in 1:1 learning.
Our teachers continue to challenge their students learning through engaging learning tasks. I have noticed classes constructing rollercoasters and sun dials and saw the Foundation class venturing into the carpark to record the colour of the cars, learning the skills of data collection. Blackwood students are designing a jetty structure for the river flat, below the School. They are researching different designs and materials for the build, then creating a plan using Tinkercad, a modelling website, aiming to print a 3D model of their designs.
This week, we again welcomed a new family to our School with Clementine commencing in Melaleuca and Percy in Foundation. We wish them a very happy and successful time at Gippsland Grammar.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Head of Bairnsdale Campus
