Bairnsdale Campus newsletter: July 17, 2020

Jul 17, 2020 | Bairnsdale News

Our students and teachers have returned to School both refreshed and rested after the three week break. I admire the positive attitude I’ve seen across the Campus during our first week of Term 3 as well as the collaborative manner in which parents, students and staff have adhered to the restrictions and protocols that are in place to keep us all safe.

I must acknowledge the confidence and independence of our youngest students in the ELC who enter the gate daily with a smile on their face as they charge ahead of mum and dad ready for an exciting day. Thanks to Sharon Smith, Annette Dilks, Liz Hadden, Jan Vercoe and Michelle McGrath who create such an engaging program and environment for our students.

This term we have welcomed Ms Anna Whelan as classroom teacher for Correa, replacing Ms Charlotte Cheadle who has chosen to start her maternity leave early. We wish Charlotte and her partner Chris a joyful time ahead as they await the birth of their first child.

It is timely to inform our Community of a further change to staff in the coming weeks. Mrs Sally Stevens, who is currently working in Grevillea on Tuesdays, will be replaced by Mrs Lucy Leeming. We wish Sally and her husband Pete all the very best as they await the arrival of their third child.

We look forward to hearing Charlotte and Sally’s news and thank them sincerely for their contributions to our Campus.

This week we have welcomed two new students: Alyssa in Grevillea and her sister Georgi into Banksia. We love having new students and I always appreciate the manner in which our Bairnsdale Campus Community warmly welcome our new families. We wish both girls happiness and success in their time at Gippsland Grammar.

During the holidays we were thrilled to see the arrival of our new modern cubbies (pictured below), generously funded by our Parents and Friends and further supported by Adam and Hayley Dean, who donated their time and labour to creating and building them. They are still a work in progress, however they will soon be ready for action. Our students are very excited and waiting patiently for the fun to begin!

While it is terrific to see so many girls taking up the option of wearing trousers, we are seeing a variety of socks being worn with the different uniform options. Please note that the correct combination is:

Grey pants for both girls and boys

Grey school socks

Winter skirt

Black over the knee socks or black tights

Sports uniform

White sport socks

Summer Shorts for boys and girls (Term 4)

Grey school socks

Summer dress (Term 4)

Cream school socks

All socks are available from Dobsons and can be ordered online at or over the phone on 5143 6339 for delivery to Bairnsdale at no cost. Dobsons are open the following hours during term times:

  • Monday: 12.30pm – 4.15pm
  • Wednesday: 12.30pm – 4.15pm
  • Thursday: 1pm – 4pm

It is our intention to keep everyone safe, so I ask and remind you all to restrict your time on Campus, to drive with care through our carpark and to support each other when needed. Please also remember a Student Health Declaration form will need to be completed if students have been absent due to experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Student are unable to return to School until symptoms have resolved. Please refer to VOS to access the Student Health Declaration form.

As we enjoy the weekend in our beautiful environment, we think of those who have greater challenges than us.

With thanks for your partnership,

Virginia Evans
Head of Bairnsdale Campus
